Riyadh - Otoritas Arab Saudi menahan dan mendeportasi tiga pemuda yang berasal dari Abu Dhabi, Uni Emirat Arab (UAE). Pengusiran ini dilakukan karena ketiga pemuda tersebut dianggap terlalu ganteng. Hah?!


Ketiga pria muda yang tidak disebutkan namanya tersebut, datang ke Saudi untuk menghadiri festival kebudayaan yang digelar di ibukota Riyadh. Namun tiba-tiba mereka malah ditangkap polisi setempat. Demikian seperti dilansirThe Sun, Kamis (18/4/2013).


Polisi syariah di kota itu atau Mutaween, beralasan bahwa pemuda-pemuda tersebut dikhawatirkan bisa mengganggu kaum wanita setempat. Menurut Mutaween, dikhawatirkan para wanita setempat tidak akan mampu menahan diri dan tergoda dengan ketiga pria tampan tersebut. Hal tersebut jelas-jelas melanggar hukum syariat Islam yang berlaku di negara itu.


"Tiga pria Emirat dibawa pergi dari lokasi karena mereka terlalu tampan. Ditakutkan para pengunjung wanita akan jatuh cinta pada mereka," demikian laporan surat kabar setempat, Elaph.


Ketiga pria muda itu dikabarkan langsung dideportasi ke Abu Dhabi.


Selama ini, kaum wanita Saudi harus selalu mengenakan pakaian yang menutup seluruh tubuh. Mereka juga dilarang untuk berbicara dan berinteraksi dengan pria yang bukan keluarga mereka.


Kontak atau interaksi seksual dengan seorang pria di luar pernikahan merupakan pidana bagi wanita Saudi. Mereka yang ketahuan melanggar, terancam hukuman cambuk dan bahkan, bisa mendapat hukuman mati.

BARMY officials have booted three male tourists out of Saudi Arabia - for being TOO HANDSOME.
Cops in the ultra-religious state arrested the hunks - from the neighbouring United Arab Emirates - at a cultural festival in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
Officers from religious police force, the Mutaween, reportedly feared local women would find the fellas irresistible and be tempted break the country's strict laws.
Saudi women have to stay covered up at all times and are banned from speaking and interacting with men who aren't their relatives.
Sexual contact with a man outside marriage is punishable by whipping and sometimes even death.
A local newspaper reported: "Three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome. (It was) feared female visitors could fall for them."

Three Emirati men were ejected from a festival in Saudi Arabia as they were deemed “too handsome”, leading authorities to fear women could become attracted to them, it has been reported.
According to Arabic language Elaph newspaper, the UAE nationals were taking part in a heritage event in the capital Riyadh on Sunday when they were thrown out by Saudi’s religious police.
Saudi Arabia, a strictly conservative Sunni Muslim society, prohibits women from interacting with unrelated males.
“A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission members feared female visitors could fall for them,” the newspaper said.


Steps were then taken to return the three men to UAE capital Abu Dhabi, according to Elaph.
Earlier this week a video posted on YouTube appeared to show a Saudi religious cleric interrupting a traditional dance being performed by Emirati men at an event in the Gulf kingdom. After remonstrating with the Emiratis, he is then shown being escorted away from the scene by members of the Saudi Arabia national guard.
It is not clear whether the two incidents are related.

Getting deported typically isn't something you'd brag about. Then again, most people aren't deported for being "too handsome."


According to Emirates 24/7, Saudi Arabia recently deported three United Arab Emirates men over concerns their dashing good looks may prove irresistible to Saudi women.


The Emirati men had been attending the Jenadriyah Heritage and Cultural Festival in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, reports the Telegraph, when an officer spotted the dapper delegates and gave them the boot.


A statement in Arabic-language newspaper Elaph, translated by The Telegraph, added, "A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission [for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices] members feared female visitors could fall for them."


"Urgent measures" were reportedly taken to escort the men to Abu Dhabi, according to the International Business Times.

It’s a good problem to have, but it’s still a problem for three men who have reportedly been deported from Saudi Arabia for being “too handsome.”


The men were visiting Saudi Arabia from the United Arab Emirates to attend the annual Jenadrivah Heritage & Cultural Festival in Riyadh. They were apparently minding their own business when members of Saudi Arabia’s religion police entered the pavilion and forcibly removed them from the festival. Their offense? They were considered “too handsome” to stay for fear that women would find them irresistible, according to the Arabic-language newspaper Elaph.


“A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission [for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices] members feared female visitors could fall for them,” Elaph reported this week, as quoted on the website Arabian Business. The Emirati men were subsequently deported to Abu Dhabi. In Saudi Arabia women are largely prohibited from interacting with unrelated males.


After the incident, the UAE released an official statement indicating that the religious police may have been on high alert due to the unplanned (and, we assume, unnerving) presence of an unnamed female artist, reported the Telegraph. It’s unclear whether the men were evicted in relation to that incident, however.
